Three Fraud Red Flags

Three Fraud Red Flags

Most fraud in small businesses is simple, and the warning signs are visible in the books.

  • New suppliers paid to personal accounts, or with no trade licence on file
  • Round-number payments and missing invoices — especially near month-end
  • Staff who never take leave — often the person no one else can cover

Still Doing Accounts in Excel?

Still Doing Accounts in Excel?

Excel is a great tool, but it is not an accounting system. It has no audit trail and no controls.

Segregation of Duties, Small Team

Segregation of Duties, Small Team

In a small company you cannot hire a person for every control, but you can split the key steps.

  • Owner approves payments — above a set limit
  • Someone else reviews the bank — every month, with the statements

We design simple, practical controls for owner-managed businesses as part of our internal audit work.

Send Statements, Get Paid Faster

Send Statements, Get Paid Faster

  • Send statements on day one of every month, to every customer with a balance
  • Match receipts to invoices — not just to the customer account
  • Call before the due date — not 60 days after it

A monthly statement and a friendly call before the due date fix more cash-flow problems than any software.
