Frequently asked questions
When do I have to register for VAT?
Registration is mandatory when your taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the previous 12 months, or are expected to exceed it in the next 30 days. You may register voluntarily from AED 187,500.
Can my business use Small Business Relief?
Resident businesses with revenue of AED 3 million or less in a tax period can elect Small Business Relief for tax periods ending on or before 31 December 2029. Qualifying Free Zone Persons and members of multinational groups cannot use it. Try our Corporate Tax calculator, then talk to us before you elect.
When is the UAE Corporate Tax return due?
Within nine months of the end of your tax period. For a financial year ending 31 December 2026, the return and payment are due by 30 September 2027.
What happens if I register for VAT or Corporate Tax late?
Late registration carries a fixed AED 10,000 penalty for each tax, plus any tax and penalties that should have been paid from the date you should have registered. Registering as soon as you cross the threshold limits the damage.
I found a mistake in a past VAT return. What should I do?
Correct it through a voluntary disclosure (Form 211) as soon as you find it. Penalties are lower when you disclose before the FTA starts an audit.
