Frequently asked questions

When should we move to full IFRS?

It depends on your size, ownership, lenders and regulators. We assess your situation and plan a smooth, well-documented transition when it is required or beneficial.

Can you build an ECL model for our receivables?

Yes. We build IFRS 9 expected credit loss models — usually the simplified approach for trade receivables — with full documentation for your auditors.

Can small UAE companies use IFRS for SMEs?

Yes, for Corporate Tax purposes where revenue does not exceed AED 50 million. Above that, full IFRS is required.

How do we account for end-of-service benefits?

Under IAS 19, as a provision for every employee, updated at each reporting date. Larger employers use an actuarial valuation; we prepare the schedule and supporting workings.

Do we need to apply IFRS 16 to our office lease?

Under full IFRS, most leases longer than 12 months go on the balance sheet as a right-of-use asset and a lease liability. IFRS for SMEs treats leases differently, so the answer depends on your framework.
